Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms major Manchester United injury news ahead of Liverpool clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms that Anthony Martial and Phil Jones are the only absentees for the Manchester United vs. Liverpool fixture this afternoon.

Following United’s 6-2 demolition job of Roma, he said: “No it doesn’t look like we got any bad injuries.

“Obviously the first morning [after] you’re tired. The second day you feel if there is any longer effects on your body – I needed a few days towards the end of my career to recover from games like that [Roma]!

“I don’t think you can take anything for granted in any game. We have to wait until Sunday morning to see how the players are.”

Martial and Jones will be the only players missing from Ole’s squad as they host a Liverpool squad that has battled with injuries the entire season.

Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Joe Gomez are all certain to miss the clash while Nathaniel Phillips will need to be passed fit to play.

Winning at Old Trafford is imperative for Liverpool if they’re going to stand any chance of finishing the season in the Premier League top four. Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham means that the Blues are now seven points above the Reds.

Defeat this afternoon will put a nail in their coffin as far as Champions League qualification is concerned.

Mohamed Salah will need to get his name on the scoresheet if Liverpool are to stand a chance of winning, with their last two wins coming in games the Egpytian scored.

It’s a worrying statistic especially given Manchester United’s knack for keeping Salah quiet at Old Trafford. If he can overcome the odds, Klopp’s side will be boosted in the race for European football.
