"Oh my goodness..." Former PL goal-scorer shocked by Liverpool player in Community Shield win

A former Premier League goal-scorer has revealed his shock when watching Liverpool's new star signing Darwin Nunez.

Darren Bent, working for TalkSport, revealed how much he enjoyed watching Liverpool's new star signing following his brilliant second-half performance on debut.

The Reds look to be onto another winner - a player with supreme energy, aggression and a will to win - all perfect traits for Jurgen Klopp's side.

The battle between Nunez and Erling Haaland has begun - and it's already 1-0 to Nunez...

Darren Bent's comments on Nunez

The former forward - who notched 106 PL goals - waxed lyrical about Nunez and his performance against Manchester City at the weekend.

The TalkSport pundit was in awe of the big Uruguayan, who closed the show with a late goal to see Liverpool run out 3-1 winners.

He told talkSPORT (03:08) the following: “When he brought on Nunez, oh my goodness, that player, what a guy!"

"People criticised him in pre-season, someone put a montage of his misses in pre-season, but he scored four goals in one half and he showed what he’s all about against Manchester City.

“The first through ball, I think it was (Luis) Diaz he ran away from, I remember thinking phwoar, I didn’t think he was that quick! Ran away from Diaz, probably should score.

"The goal that he does score, typical poacher in and around the six yard box, directing the header, really, really good impact and I think he’ll score goals in the Premier League, I really do.”
