"Not interested" James Pearce gives transfer update on £50m rated baller - wanted by 4 PL clubs

Liverpool's correspondent for The Athletic has given a transfer update on the highly coveted £50m rated midfielder wanted by four Premier League clubs.

Sporting's Matheus Nunes has been heavily linked with a move to the PL and Liverpool have been one of the reported clubs interested.

With their current midfield injury situation, rumours have intensified as the Reds look to cope without Curtis Jones, Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

In a transfer update, The Athletic's James Pearce gave an abrupt response to whether Liverpool will sign Nunes this summer.

Latest reports on Matheus Nunes to Liverpool

Essentially, Liverpool are not meant to be interested in securing the services of Nunes.

Fans may be disappointed to hear that, but with Jurgen Klopp insisting that they will look for alternatives within their squad, it's likely we will see more game time for the young stars Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot.

Fans are worried that an ageing Jordan Henderson, injury-prone Naby Keita and a 36-year-old James Milner are not enough for them to compete and win the title against the marauding Manchester City.

A deal for Nunes could be done for a fee of around €50 million with West Ham having a bid rejected yesterday (According to Record) having submitted an offer of €30 million + €5 million in add-ons.

Perhaps the long-term goal of signing Jude Bellingham, likely for next summer, is the end goal and bringing in a midfielder now could complicate matters. Especially considering reports suggested that Liverpool had made progress with Bellingham's representatives (as Anfield Central reported previously) in recent weeks.
