Liverpool star missing from training after agreement in principle reached over Premier League switch

Neco Williams has not reported for pre-season training yet as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club.

The right-back spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan with Fulham as the Cottagers won the Championship and secured a place in this season's Premier League campaign.

Another side promoted to the top flight, Nottingham Forest, is heavily linked with a move to sign the 21-year-old this summer.

According to Football Insider, a source close to Forest has told them that "they have tabled a lucrative long-term contract offer to Williams that he has agreed in principle."

A report from This is Anfield states that despite being listed as part of the group due to arrive for pre-season training on Monday, Williams was not present.

He shared an image to his Instagram story of him training on his own while his future is covered daily ahead of the start of the new season.

The Premier League campaign begins on the 6th of August and so the clock is ticking on all remaining business for Liverpool.

Williams is a talented player no doubt but he has found it difficult to get any game time ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who assisted 19 goals last season.

With Calvin Ramsay arriving from Aberdeen to compete with the Scouser, it's clear that Williams needs to leave in order to find regular game time.

It's a pity as he burst onto the scene for Liverpool and looked like a player that Jurgen Klopp could develop into an exciting attacking fullback.

I'd say he remains an exciting prospect and should he secure a move to Forest this summer, it would be great to see him in action in the Premier League again.

Most Reds will follow his progress closely and will back him to succeed.
