£52.75m disappointment willing to leave Anfield for La Liga

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is looking to move on from his Anfield nightmare this summer.

That is according to Spanish outlet AS who reports that Keita does not see eye to eye with manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Guinea international has had a very stop-start career at Liverpool since his £52.75m move from RB Leipzig in 2018.

With Atletico potentially being light in midfield at the start of next season Keita has offered himself to the club as on-loan midfielder Lucas Torreira will not be staying past this season and Saul's future is again uncertain.

This report has only added more speculation to Keita's future. We have already reported on the interest in Keita from Premier League clubs such as Leicester City last month.

Liverpool fans had high hopes for Naby when he first arrived at the club but injuries have not helped. Sadly, being substituted in the first half of a Champions League quarter-final tie is a signal of where he is valued within the squad.

IF Keita was to leave this summer then his Liverpool career can be seen as a major disappointment by Liverpool fans.

Can Naby Keita turn his Liverpool career around and stay?

Sadly, the correct answer to this question appears to be no, with injuries being the main cause for this.

Just this season alone Naby has missed 15 Premier League games through injury and COVID-19. That is simply not good enough for a club like Liverpool that needs players who can be relied upon during a season.

This season has only highlighted Keita's lack of durability. With Henderson and Fabinho having to play centre-back, he was needed in midfield and he just wasn't available.

At the age of 26, it is hard to see Naby getting over his injury problems as he enters the peak of his career.

Even if he could stay fit there is no guarantee the Guinea international will even start in Liverpool's midfield three. It is clear that Liverpool's strongest combination in that three is Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago. Those three offer Liverpool the perfect balance in pressing, passing and technical ability.

Sadly, his injury history and the quality Liverpool already have in midfield will bring an end to his Anfield career.
