Mohamed Salah needs more respect

Mohamed Salah is one of the best attackers in the world, but somehow doesn't get the recognition he deserves

Mohamed Salah's transfer to Liverpool was originally seen as a risk. His spell at Chelsea had damaged his reputation in England.

Even a starring role at AS Roma didn't convince too many of his quality. However, Salah has been a truly incredible signing for the Reds. Winning two golden boots in three full seasons, he has returned 160 goals and assists in just 182 appearances.

However, while he may have the goal return to deserve it, he's never received the kind of love and respect his rivals have.

Often accused of being selfish, he has never been truly loved by English football. Certainly not in the same way as some of his fellow forwards like Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, or Marcus Rashford.

Part of it, of course, is due to his reputation as a diver. A penalty to Mohamed Salah is always a source of controversy.

Of course, he does go down easily on occasion. Only the most blinkered fan would disagree. However, is he truly any worse than Harry Kane, Jack Grealish or Anthony Martial in that regard?

There have even been calls for him to be sold to make room for a younger attacker. However, there is no guarantee that any attacker could even come close to replicating his impact at Anfield.

Salah's arrival truly allowed for Liverpool's attack to become what it is. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino had done well in the previous season to Salah's arrival. However, playing Mane on the right, somewhat blunted the Senegalese's goalscoring touch.

Bringing in Salah brought that true sense of balance to the Reds' attack.

His consistency for Jurgen Klopp has been a core part of the reason for the Red's recent success. He's shown in the big moments, that he can always be relied upon. Hopefully, as his career moves on, his consistency can be rewarded with the respect he deserves and his rivals enjoy.
