'He doesn’t impress me much': Liverpool star slammed as he's 'not at the level of someone like' PSG star

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah does not "impress" Africa Cup of Nations top goalscorer, Vincent Aboubakar, as they get set to go head to head.

The two attackers will lead their respective nations as Egypt locks horns with tournament hosts, Cameroon, in the second semi-final of the 2022 AFCON after Senegal defeated Burkina Faso 3-1 on Wednesday.

Egypt have reached this stage thanks to Mo Salah's influence and though he only has two goals and a solitary assist as each goal contribution has been influential but Aboubakar, the tournament's top goalscorer with 6 strikes, is not impressed by the Liverpool star.

When asked about Salah and how he has improved since 2017 when Cameroon beat Egypt in the final of the AFCON, Aboubakar replied: "I see it as before.

"He is having a great season in the Premier League, he is helping his country to advance in the competition. I wish him a lot of luck. May the best win!

"He doesn’t impress me much. I say it clearly because I’m an honest person and I have my way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much. He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game.

"Of course, he’s doing good stuff in the Premier League because he’s been in a team that’s been there for years. He’s a good player but not at the level of someone like Mbappé."

I can't remember the 30-year-old being so confident and forthright before Liverpool played Porto in the Champions League. The Portuguese outfit lost 5-0 on aggregate as Salah notched one.

Salah is widely regarded as the best forward in the world and before the tournament even began, he had the most Premier League goals and assists and while he missed the month of January and all but one of its league fixtures, he still has the most goals and assists in England's top flight.

Aboubakar admits Salah is prolific but insists he doesn't produce "a lot of stuff" in the game which leads me to believe he's either trying to undermine the Egyptian before the big game or he simply doesn't watch the Liverpool no.11.

Maybe he should give this compilation a watch.
