Liverpool angered by agent using "clear tactics" in negotiations over £400,000 per week deal

Liverpool angered by agent using "clear tactics" in negotiations over £400,000 per week deal

Liverpool owners FSG are unhappy with Mohamed Salah after it was leaked that the Egyptian forward would prefer to stay in the Premier League if he left Anfield.

With his contract set to expire in 12 months' time, Salah is the subject of massive scrutiny right now as he could leave for free at the end of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

He has made it clear that he wants to stay at the club over and over but he is simultaneously unprepared to lower his demands to make staying financially easier on Liverpool.

That said, the only obligation he owes the Reds is to fulfil his current contract and he is fully entitled to demand wages that would reportedly make him the sixth highest-paid player on the planet.

FSG angry at Mohamed Salah contract tactics

Salah employs Ramy Abbas Issa to represent him, handle his negotiations with Liverpool and to manage his career and the various details that go into being a multi-million-pound footballer.

His agent, however, has become well known for his cryptic way of communicating, using social media to subtly share information with supporters about Salah's contract talks with Liverpool.

Now, according to the Athletic, Salah would prefer to stay in the Premier League if he left Liverpool next summer.

The agent has angered American owners, with Graeme Bailey reporting that FSG views the threat of Salah joining an English rival as a "clear tactic" from the forward and his agent.

Salah reportedly wants £400,000 per week to remain at Liverpool.

"I am staying next season," Mo Salah said

With his contract set to expire in June 2023, five years after moving to Liverpool, Mohamed Salah insisted he will stay at Anfield for the 2022/23 season.

Salah said in a press conference: "In my mind, I don't focus on the contract. I don't want to be selfish at all. I said two months ago it's about the team. It's an important week for us.

"I'm just focused on the team and winning the Champions League again. I want to see Hendo [Jordan Henderson] with the trophy in the hands and hopefully he gives it to me. I don't want to talk about the contract now, I'm staying next season for sure, that's clear."

Yet there is no way to tell if he will get his dream contract from the Reds or if he will leave next summer for a new journey.

Mo Salah expected to leave Liverpool in 2023

Speaking on The Done Deal Show on YouTube, journalist Rob Blanchette said he believes that Mohamed Salah will not be at the club beyond next season.

“So I said at Christmas last year," Blanchette started, "This was from direct sourcing from the player – that Mohamed Salah would not be at Liverpool long-term, I didn’t think that he’d sign a new deal.

“There’s no doubt that his dream now is to go to La Liga and finish off his career and prove that he’s a generational talent. Always a player who’s loved Spanish football – connections, obviously, with Real Madrid and Barcelona, it’s always been a kind of dream of his.

“He’s at the situation now with Liverpool where he’s won everything, he’s done everything in the Premier League. He’s proved himself and he’s coming to the end of his career, looking for that big last contract.

“When I say ‘end of his career’, I’m not saying he’s 35 years old, but this is when players decide that they’ve got one or two huge deals left in them.”
