Liverpool are expected to beat Benfica again tonight and head into the second leg with a 3-1 aggregate lead and Michael Owen predicts a comfortable victory for his former side.

The former Red also says he likes the look of attacking target Darwin Nunez.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz gave the Reds the lead they needed to put their Portuguese opponents in a treacherous position.

Heading back to Anfield, under the lights, it will be an exercise in game management for Jurgen Klopp's men while any opportunity to score will also be an opportunity to put the tie to rest.

Owen doesn't expect any bumps in the road for Liverpool and while Darwin Nunez troubled them in Portugal in the first leg, they were in control the whole game.

"This should be a straightforward night at Anfield," the former Liverpool striker stated.

"Benfica caused a few problems in Lisbon, but Liverpool deserved to win by at least a couple of goals.

"I like the look of Darwin Nunez, but I can't see him or Benfica causing too many problems. 2-0 Liverpool."

Liverpool are linked with Nunez. The forward is reportedly available this summer for €79m (£66m) and has scored 31 goals in 36 games this season.

The most interesting aspect of the game will be to see how the Reds manage their energy as Benfica will be chasing the game but Liverpool have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to on Saturday.

The ideal game plan would be for Klopp's side to come flying out of the blocks, grab an early goal and put Benfica's slender hopes of a comeback to rest.

An early goal for Nélson Veríssimo's side would be disastrous as it would give them the energy and spirit needed to chase the game for the whole 90 minutes but if the score is 4-1 within the first half, it may well be too much for the Liga Nos outfit.

Liverpool are looking to accomplish the unprecedented by winning the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

They're on the backfoot in the league after failing to win at the Etihad on Sunday but a win tonight would take them one step closer to a 7th European Cup and one step closer to a historic season.
