€73million star wants to join Liverpool but only if he is paid €230,000/week

Per Calciomercato, Liverpool can sign Matthijs de Ligt this summer if they agree to pay him £200,000 per week.

The Reds are well-stocked at centre back but were one of the clubs that tried to sign him when he left Ajax in 2019.

The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the 2023/24 season and it would appear as though he is already looking for a new club to join.

Juve are reportedly trying to renew his contract with a €7.5million/season deal which is less than the €12m deal he already has in place with the Serie A club.

Manchester United have made it clear they won't pay him what he is currently earning while the likes of PSG, Manchester City and Liverpool are said to hold a chance of signing him.

The report states that if Liverpool offer him a weekly wage worth €230,000/week (roughly £200,000), the centre-back "would agree to leave" Juventus.

It's made clear that offers have yet to arrive and so his options are pretty scarce.

For Liverpool, it makes almost no sense to sign de Ligt especially when his €73million price tag is factored.

Jurgen Klopp does not need more central defenders.

The German has arguably the best depth at centre back in the whole of Europe.

No other club can call on the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.

The fact that Gomez, one of the best defenders in Europe, was on the pitch for Liverpool for a total of just 1036 minutes speaks volumes about Klopp's strength in numbers.
