Man City to move for Liverpool's €50m target if Silva leaves - Liverpool could miss out on dazzling midfielder

Liverpool could miss out on their midfield target to Manchester City if Bernardo Silva decides to leave for Barcelona.

The Reds have been marred with injuries in recent weeks, losing key men in midfield as fans have begun to worry.

Fans want to see a signing come in but Jurgen Klopp has placed his trust in the likes of Harvey Elliot, who just signed a new long-term deal at the club yesterday.

However, if Liverpool do not move for Matheus Nunes now, they could risk losing out on him to rivals Manchester City who are also keen on the move for the 23-year-old.

Latest reports on Nunes

The latest reports from Portugal suggest a two-way battle for the signature of Nunes - thanks to Man City's potential sale of Bernardo Silva to Barcelona.

He also claims that if Silva leaves then City will move in for advanced talks with the player; Pep Guardiola once called him 'one of the best players in world football' so there's no doubt that he is a fan of the midfielder.

However, Klopp mentioned today that Liverpool will only move for the 'right player' this summer - but didn't completely rule out any signings.

More game time for Elliot?

With Klopp seemingly against a new signing, for now, 19-year-old Elliot will be entrusted with more minutes for the next few weeks.

Having started in the opening games of last season, before the horrific ankle injury, he's shown his capability to produce at this level.

Despite his age, his confidence, close control and passing range have seen him become a Klopp favourite and his game time will only improve from here on out.

Fans should be excited to watch one of the best U20 players in the league start in midfield when they face Crystal Palace on Monday - as a new signing looks unrealistic for now.
