Liverpool wonderkid wants to score '15 to 20' league goals this season

Liverpool's wonderkid Harvey Elliot has set himself the ambitious target of scoring 15-20 league goals this season.

Elliot, 19, should play a more significant role this season as the more attacking minded midfielder in their three-man midfield.

He had started three of the first four games in the league last season before a horrific ankle injury saw his season turn on its head.

With the midfielder starting the first pre-season game against Manchester United, he put down a marker to convince Jurgen Klopp to put his faith in Elliot more regularly.

He is yet to score in the Premier League for the Reds but has scored in the FA Cup.

With midfield options being competitive at Liverpool, Elliot has a serious task on his hands to play regular football.

However, he can take positives from his manager who has heaped the praise onto him at their pre-season press conference in Thailand: "Of course [I value the youngsters highly]. And we should not forget that last season, in the first four games, Harvey Elliott was the best player. He was outstanding." Klopp claimed.

"Then he had a bad injury, came back, [he was] high, low. Normal for a young player, and normal after a long injury. He looks sharp now, he’s back, and like everybody he needs luck.

"There’s really a lot of excitement for this situation from our side, and like I say, if you want guarantees then you have to look somewhere else. We work a lot with expectations, and our starting point most of the time is very, very positive."
