Liverpool have been very impressed by Luis Diaz and are want to bring him to Anfield in what would be a much-needed boost to the Reds’ attacking line.
In order to lift either or both the Premier League and the Champions League this season, it could be argued that Reds gaffed Jurgen Klopp needs Thiago and Naby Keita to remain fit to keep his midfield options fit.
The former is set to return to training after the international break while Keita is balling out at the Africa Cup of Nations and will hopefully return to Merseyside unscathed where he will help Liverpool compete on four fronts.
According to El Nacional, Porto will ask for just €30million (£25m) for Diaz but that seems far too low for a player that has a release clause of €80million (£66.9m) in his contract, via Paisley Gates.
Last week, A Bola reported that Liverpool are ready to make a bid for Diaz but if they are going to make an offer to Porto, they will certainly have to spend more than £25million to land one of the most exciting players in his position.
Diaz is 25 and so is about to enter his prime which means Klopp would be getting a player that could make an impact as soon as he arrives which would take some pressure of Mo Salah, Mane and Diogo Jota.
Beyond Thiago and Keita staying fit, Klopp needs his attacking to remain fresh and firing and so signing Porto’s Luis Diaz, who has 15 goals and 6 assists already this season, could be the answer.
The Colombian is direct, fast and clinical with his finishing but he’s also very good at dribbling and seems like the perfect player to compete with Sadio Mane for game time on the left flank.
The Senegal international is disrespected at times. He may miss big opportunities at times like he did in the Premier League against Leicester City but he’s still a very good player and has 10 goals and an assist in what is supposedly a poor season by his standards.
