Journalist: Liverpool aware of four Bayern Munich contracts running down – worth a combined total of £265m

Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg say that Liverpool are aware of Bayern Munich’s stars with contracts running down.

When asked who from the Bundesliga would fit in at Anfield or who Liverpool have been keeping an eye on, the journalist said: “It’s difficult to say…

“But I am sure that Liverpool is aware of the contract situations of [Joshua] Kimmich, [Leon] Goretzka, [Kingsley] Coman and [Serge] Gnabry.”

Goretzka’s contract expires in June 2022 while the other three have another two years on their contracts but after signing Thiago, the Reds could sign another soon to be out of contract Bayern star.

Between them, they are worth a combined total of £265million, according to Transfermarkt.

After Thiago and David Alaba and potentially Leon Goretzka, Bayern are battling to keep their best players at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool have just lost Georginio Wijnaldum after he ran down his contract so we shouldn’t celebrate their failure too much.

But if it means Jurgen Klopp picks up another world-class player next summer, on the cheap, you won’t find me complaining.

If I had to choose, Joshua Kimmich would be my pick of those players.

Not only is he brilliantly technically but he has that winning mentality that would further improve a side that Jurgen Klopp dubbed the ‘mentality giants’ not too long ago.

He can play as no.8, as a defensive midfielder and at right-back so Liverpool would be blessed with great versatility.

Of course, this doesn’t help Liverpool this summer as they need reinforcements immediately and this is where supporter frustrations come from.

While Manchester United and Manchester City and even Arsenal are willing to spend millions on their targets, Klopp is forced to wait months and years for targets for when they are at their cheapest.

The German deserves better and I can’t help but wonder what he could achieve with owners that support him even just a little more freely.
