Liverpool want to sign Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal but a bid is not expected at this stage.

The Reds have a glittering attacking array after adding Luis Diaz to their ranks in January.

They beat Spurs to his signature, sealing a €60million deal to bring him to Anfield.

The Colombian has been superb for Liverpool since arriving and his best performance in a Red shirt came on Tuesday against Benfica as he scored and assisted against his former rivals.

According to Goal and Spox, Liverpool are interested in signing Danjuma but are not likely to make a bid for him this summer.

They report: "The Reds see Danjuma as a possible successor to Sadio Mane, who could leave for free in summer 2023 if he does not extend his current contract."

The Senegal attacker was also on the scoresheet in the Champions League this week as he tapped home Diaz's headered assist to double the lead over Benfica and ultimately win the game.

Danjuma, meanwhile, scored a surprise winner over Bayern Munich to give the Yellow Submarina a chance of advancing to the semifinals where they would ironically face Liverpool if the Reds can hold onto their lead over Benfica in the second leg.

The 25-year-old is certainly not short on confidence, boldly telling the Guardian: “If we look at what I’ve done this season it’s quite fair and factual to say I’m among the best wingers in the world.”

He's got 15 goals and 5 assists for club and country and so he's been one of the best in the world but he's not in the very top bracket of forwards just yet.

Goal and Spox report that Liverpool "could sanction a bid to bring Danjuma into the fold" but only if "Mane does end up departing the club next year."

As things stand, the former Southampton star has until the end of the 2022/23 season until his Liverpool contract expires which means he's running out of time at Anfield.

FSG have several players who will be out of contract next summer, with Mohamed Salah the most notable soon-to-be free agent while Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and, of course, Mane will all be allowed to leave without a solution to their contractual situations.
