Liverpool told a £51.4million bid will secure rapid replacement for Sadio Mane

Liverpool are interested in Christian Pulisic but they will need to pay £51.4million to sign him from Chelsea this summer.

The American has been on Jurgen Klopp's radar ever since he left Borussia Dortmund.

The Liverpool manager was the one who promoted him to the senior Dortmund squad before he left.

Klopp could now sign him all these years later but it's going to take a £51.4million bid to convince Chelsea to part ways.

Whether or not the Blues would actually be willing to sell Pulisic to Liverpool or not is unclear but a report from Corriere dello Sport outlines the cost behind signing him.

With Sadio Mane set to leave the club this summer, a replacement will be signed but Pulisic doesn't strike me as the ideal target.

For a start, he simply does not score or assist enough.

This season, he scored just 8 goals and assisted 5.

Takumi Minamino got more despite playing over 1000 minutes fewer.

That's not meant as a slight on Takumi - he was so reliable this season but for Pulisic, a player supposedly worth over £50m, that's not good enough.

At Liverpool, forwards are expected to carry the full weight of the goalscoring burden unlike Manchester City, who have relied on their midfielders to score as much as their attackers in recent seasons.

With Sadio Mane leaving after scoring over 20 goals this season yet again, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to add a player who can carry his own weight.

I'm simply not convinced that Pulisic is that player.
