Liverpool to trust 19-year-old wonderkid over signing £50M star - is this the right call?

Liverpool are set to reward their talented youngster with more minutes instead of signing a new £50> midfielder - is this the right decision?

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Sporting's Matheus Nunes but fans may be disappointed at the latest reports from journalists in England.

It seems Harvey Elliot will be entrusted with more minutes this season - something he had at the start of the last year before an ankle injury derailed his season.

Could Elliot be the spark needed to light Liverpool's title charge or is he still too young to have a major effect on this team?

No move for Nunes?

Reports in Portugal have been strong claiming the player has been waiting for a big club to come in for him having already turned down Wolves' approach.

With a World Cup on the horizon, Nunes may take another season to develop in the Champions League and at the World Cup before moving next summer.

No doubt he will have plenty of suitors, not just Liverpool, given the rate he's improving at as well as fan interest - which continues to grow.

More minutes for Elliot?

With Liverpool currently sweating on injury issues over their midfield, it seems Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will entrust Elliot with more minutes this season.

Despite being only 19, Elliot began last season as a starter, even starring against Chelsea at home showing he is capable of playing in the midfield three at this level on a regular basis.

People also forget his season at Blackburn as a 16/17-year-old notching seven goals and 11 assists that got him a move to Liverpool. He showed glimpses last season, having recovered from a brutal ankle injury to still produce 1.5 key passes per 90 and 52 touches per game.

He's someone who's positive, always looks to play forward and has a great relationship on the right hand side of midfield with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah - fan should be excited to see one of the best young talents around get more game time.
