Konate signed while €85million double signing is completed - How Liverpool could lineup next season with these deals
Ibrahima Konate is Liverpool's only signing so far this summer but if he is joined by Saul and Adama Traore, it could actually turn into a decent summer.
Most supporters recognise that Liverpool's issue lies in its lack of depth and if FSG and Michael Edwards can fix this for Jurgen Klopp, the 2021/22 season could be a fruitful one.
So far, issue no.1 has been rectified: Ibrahima Konate was signed for £36million (€42m) and with the likes of Virgil van Dijk returning to full fitness, centre-back is no longer an area of major concern.
Issue no.2: Georginio Wijnaldum's free-agent move to PSG has yet to be dealt with and while rumours of a move for Atletico Madrid's Saul persist, the €50m ace could be snapped up by Manchester United or La Liga giants Barcelona soon.
Issue no.3: Liverpool need to add depth to their front three to avoid a repeat of last season which saw them struggle to score goals with regularity.
Adama Traore has been linked over the last week and he would provide great cover for Mohamed Salah in games when the Egyptian needs to be brought off.
Too often, Liverpool have to bring the winger off for a midfielder like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain which affects the Reds' flow immensely.
Signing Saul and Traore would cost Liverpool a total of €85m but they would give Klopp the depth he needs to challenge not just in the Premier League and the Champions League but also in the domestic cups which have become an afterthought for the German.
The Premier League season starts in less than two weeks but Michael Edwards has the entirety of August to get Liverpool's affairs in order and it seems as though he'll need the whole month as things stand.
