Liverpool are confident of reaching an agreement to sign Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Darwin Nunez is potentially hours away from being announced by Liverpool with an agreement in place with Benfica over his move to Anfield.

Last week, I wrote an article stating Liverpool could soon have two agreements in place to sign Ramsay and Nunez, with my belief that the Scotsman would be the first to sign.

However, negotiations with Benfica accelerated to the point that Ramsay will now be the third signing of the summer and not the second.

According to Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are set to reach an agreement with Calvin Ramsay over his personal terms.

He said on Twitter: “Liverpool are set to reach an agreement with Calvin Ramsay on personal terms – they made an official bid to Aberdeen for the Scottish fullback.

“Club [Liverpool FC] confident on agreement between clubs – but Aberdeen want around €10m with add ons included. Talks ongoing.”

Before any other additions are made to the squad, Liverpool have started their summer brilliantly, adding Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay.

Julian Ward, in his new role as Liverpool's sporting director, has shown no sign of not being able to match his predecessor, Michael Edwards.

If he is able to sign a top midfielder to reinforce the engine room, it will be a sensational start to his new role and will set Jurgen Klopp up for success next season.

The Reds are on holiday, resting up after a season which saw them win the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup while coming agonisingly close to winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
