According to a report, Liverpool club chiefs will jet out to Italy as they plot a move to sign Juventus' Paulo Dybala as his contract winds down.

The January transfer window slammed shut on Monday evening at 11pm but the rumours have yet to stop and Dybala appears to be a name that is still being linked with the Reds, with Liverpool reportedly pushing hard to sign him.

What a turn of events that would be. Imagine Liverpool failed to sign Fabio Carvalho but 72 hours later, they were in talks to sign Dybala. They play similar roles although the former is more of a ball carrier and nine years younger!

It sounds crazy but I would much rather have Carvalho simply due to the long-term promise he carries especially as I can't help shake the feeling that Dybala arriving at Anfield would signal Mohamed Salah's departure.

The Egyptian is still locked in contract talks with Liverpool with no signs of a breakthrough.

According to TUTTOmercatoWEB, Liverpool are planning a move to sign Dybala with 'club chiefs expected in Italy as the Reds look to complete a deal to sign the Argentine 'as early as February'.

His contract expires at the end of the season as he ended contract talks with Juve after they tried to change the terms of the deal they had already agreed with Dybala, he looks set to leave the club.

According to TMW, Liverpool will be ‘actively moving’ towards Dybala as they look to sign him on a pre-contract agreement 'as early as February' but my concern lies over his wages as he already earns £222,000/week and will surely want a major increase as well as a big signing-on bonus as all free agents do.

Liverpool 'emissaries' are 'expected' in Italy this month to thrash out a deal for the 28-year-old.
