The Reds have been linked with the 20-year-old for several months but Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have been the favourites for a while now but Sky Sports Marc Behrenbeck claims the Reds wouldn't hesitate to sign him at the right price.

Previously, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool were interested in signing the rapid wide player but stated he preferred “a move to Germany.”

The Italian journalist told the Anfield Watch: “Liverpool appreciate the player, but it’s about how he fits in. I think he’s perfect to play with two strikers. So for a different kind of system and not the 4-3-3 Liverpool play under Klopp.

"So at the moment, Borussia Dortmund, are leading the race."

Now, Sky Sports reporter Marc Behrenbeck seems to suggest that it's far more of an open race to land the young goalscorer than it previously appeared which is quite exciting given he has scored 19 goals and assisted another 4.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Behrenbeck, Liverpool would snap him up for €40m.

“There are some, especially from the Premier League, who would take him immediately for 40 million euros. That is not a lot of money for such a player,” he said.

“I still assume that the deal will go through. We are too far along for that.”

Sky also explain that Dortmund have made an offer of €30-35m but Salzburg accept a bid of anything less than €40m 'under any circumstances.'

It seems as though all Liverpool need to do to land their man is submit a bid of €40m and they will be able to sign him but it's unclear whether or not he still prefers a move to the Bundesliga or not.

After Luis Diaz joined the Reds, Jürgen Klopp doesn't have as much need to reinforce his squad but there aren't many fans out there who would turn their noses up at a lightning-quick forward like Adeyemi.

Especially given his ability to dance beyond defenders and win penalties as Sevilla learned in the Champions League this season.
