Liverpool 'very serious' about completing agreement to sign €30m world beater - report says he 'may end up at Anfield'

Liverpool are inked with a fascinating move to sign Toni Kroos, who has been one of the best midfielders in Europe for a long, long time but is he a smart option for Jurgen Klopp?

It feels like Real Madrid chiefs have reached an unwritten agreement to keep playing the midfield trio of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro until the wheels fall off despite the fact that they're getting older.

Kroos is 32, Modric is 36 while Casemiro is 29. They're storming La Liga and are five points clear at the top of the table but it's unclear if they have the legs in midfield even with the summer signing of Eduardo Camavainga to win the Champions League.

Toni Kroos could end his 8-year Real Madrid career at the Santiago Bernabeu

The German 2014 World Cup winner told Mundo Deportivo: “The length of the contract was chosen in a conscious way. When it ends, I will be 33 years of age and I will have to reflect on what comes next.

“I don’t need to enter any ambiguous games, I put the letters on the table. It’s my eighth season with Madrid and I have an incredible relationship with the club and I would never endanger that. I think that is something mutual.

“I have said with clarity that I want to end my career here and that could happen.”

Liverpool willing to offer £25million to bring Toni Kroos to the Premier League

Although Toni Kroos would prefer to stay at Real Madrid if he had his way, I think he will be realistic about his chances of renewing with Los Blancos for another few years and being a regular.

Yet, he's on Liverpool's radar. According to El Nacional, "Jürgen Klopp would be delighted to be able to coach his compatriot", Kroos, and the player is apparently also excited about the possibility of working with the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

The report says that 'the Reds are very serious about Kroos' and the "midfielder would be promised a leading role, in addition to a salary similar to the one he has today, and a three-year contract."

SalarySport claims he earns £307,000/week which means he would earn a similar amount at Anfield compared to what he is at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In order to tempt Real Madrid to part ways with Kroos with a year left on his contract in the summer, Liverpool are ready and willing to pay a fee in the region of €30million (£25m).

Does the Real Madrid icon fit the bill for Jurgen Klopp's side?

In terms of experience, he's virtually unmatched in the current game. The German has won the Bundesliga four times, the DFB Pokal twice, the Champions League once with Bayern Munich, three times with Real Madrid, La Liga twice, Supercopa de Espana twice as well as four FIFA Club World Cups.

His experience is a boon for any team. As is his composure and class on the ball but I am worried that the speed and physcaility of the Premier League, at this point in his career, would be too much for him.

He's still one of the best passers in Europe and is, technically, one of the best in the game but he's not very quick and in games against faster, more aggressive and physical sides, he's at their mercy.

Of course, in the right system and setup, he is more than capable of playing around them and could do so if played with Thiago and Fabinho but I'm not so sure it would be the same outcome if he was forced to play with Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones.
