Apparently, Liverpool are one of two unnamed clubs trying to beat Man United to €64M future superstar, per report

Liverpool are set to battle it out with seven other clubs in Europe for the signature of RB Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko. One report names the Reds as one of seven trying to sign the Slovenian.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United are in contact with the forward as they look to beef up their attack ahead of the new Premier League season.

He adds that there "are two more clubs in the race" and that the player will soon make a decision.

Touted as the 'next Erling Haaland' the Slovenian boasts a similar build and style of play to the Norweigan superstar.

Fans got their first look at the player during Liverpool's 1-0 loss to Salzburg in their pre-season friendly a couple of weeks back.

Having impressed in that game, and last season, the Reds are set to battle it out with Europe's elite for Sesko.

Latest reports on Sesko

The Salzburg player has already begun his season in Austria, with two goals and an assist in three competitive games so far.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was said to be 'in love' with the performance of Sesko against Liverpool in the pre-season match.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are also tracking the Slovenian, but the Austrian club hold all the power as the player has a contract until 2026.

Salzburg have produced great talent and sold for reasonable fees but Sesko's increased interest could see the forward cost a fair fee.

Too good to turn down? Liverpool already have Nunez

Whilst Liverpool already have their own striking sensation in Darwin Nunez, Sesko is four years younger and has a high ceiling.

It's unlikely Liverpool would move for the forward, having already got Diogo Jota, Roberto Fimino in addition to Nunez for the central roles.

Klopp saw what he did to his side in pre-season and that is usually an indicator of interest from the German - who was impressed by Nunez which confirmed his interest.

Although, passing up the opportunity to sign him could be costly in years to come, given the upwards trajectory the 19-year-old is currently on.
