Liverpool 'not at the table' for striker but are hot on the heels of first summer signing

The Daily Mail's Dominic King writes that Liverpool are 'not at the table' for Sergio Aguero but are considering moves for Ibrahima Konate and Ben White.

The Manchester City striker is departing the club after 10 years and while it would have been a great signing for the Reds, the Argentine will not be moving to Liverpool despite growing up as a fan.

The former Independiente star is a Premier League legend after scoring 181 goals for the Sky Blues, making him the fourth-highest scorer of all time. His goals helped City win four league titles, with a fifth one on its way this season.

As King writes, however, he won't be adding to his goal tally with Liverpool as he doesn't want to disrespect the City fans by moving to Merseyside. The Anfield side is, however, hot on the heels of Ibrahima Konate.

The report from the Daily Mail mentions Ben White as a target as well but if the Reds can reach an agreement with RB Leipzig, they will sign Konate before the end of the season with a verbal agreement existing between the defender and Liverpool.

Centre-half is a priority position this summer for the Reds after injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez totally derailed their Premier League title defence and while it's yet to prove to be an issue in Europe, their next game is against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

A 3-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League has bolstered hopes of finishing inside the top four but there's still a way to go before the Champions can get comfortable.
