Report: Liverpool could be "moving in the shadows" to land blockbuster deal to sign €21million per season superstar

Report: Liverpool could be "moving in the shadows" to land blockbuster deal to sign €21million per season superstar

Liverpool and other interested parties have been put on red alert by Kylian Mbappe's admission that there are 'new elements, new parameters' to take into consideration while one source claims a "club moves in the shadows".

It's the common consensus among football fans and among experts that the French forward will move to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are one of the few clubs that can afford his wages, they match his ambition and have a history of delivering on the grandest stage as Europe's most decorated club in the Champions League.

Mbappe confirms he is considering 'new parameters' ahead of blockbuster summer move

Yet, despite it appearing from the outside looking in as though a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is part of his fate, the 23-year-old has admitted that there are new factors at play that he and his family are taking into consideration.

Speaking to ESPN after PSG dismantled Lorient 5-1 in Ligue 1, the forward said: “I haven’t decided about my future yet.

“I’m cool, I want to take my time because I don’t want to get it wrong.

“I am thinking about it because there are new elements — lots of things, new parameters.

“[There are] a lot of parameters to take in consideration. I’m trying to figure it out with my family so I take the right decision”.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that there is a 'club moving in the shadows' to sign Mbappe and it could be Manchester City or Liverpool.

Liverpool have almost no chance of signing Mbappe as things stand

FSG would need to make fundamental changes to the way they run the club in order to be competing for Mbappe's signature with his wage demands sure to be astronomical.

One report from ABC claims the French superstar would earn €21million per season for six years and would receive a €40million bonus to be split between him, his father and their lawyer.

Liverpool simply cannot compete with that kind of financial firepower and even if they could, FSG have chosen to run the club in a more sustainable manner which means wage demands like that are almost off the table.

Mohamed Salah is widely reported to be demanding £500,000 per week which amounts to a staggering £26million per season but so far Liverpool have refused to match his demands.

Mbappe is the only player Liverpool could replace Salah with

Salah is 29 and is at the peak of his powers despite a recent dip in form but if he were to leave, the only player able to match or better his return for the club is Kylian Mbappe.

In terms of style, status and pure numbers, Mbappe would feel like a natural replacement for Salah but there are no guarantees he could deliver what Mo has over the last five seasons.

That said, Mbappe is currently the most in-form player on the planet and has 28 goals and 20 assists this season for PSG, including 6 and 6 in the Champions League before the Parisians were eliminated by Real Madrid.
