Liverpool ready to 'present offer for’ 29 y/o as 'substantial’ bid could prove successful

Corriere dello Sport report that Stefan de Vrij is still on Liverpool's radar after they tried to sign him after buying Virgil van Dijk.

Sport Witness have transcribed an article from the Italian publication which suggests that the Reds are looking to sign the Dutchman this summer.

They claim that Liverpool, Manchester City and PSG would all be ‘prepared to present an offer’ for the Inter Milan defender. His resolute performances this season have helped his side climb to the top of Serie A as they look set to win the league.

The report adds that it remains to be seen if 'a particularly substantial offer could change’ Inter's desires to extend de Vrij's contract.

Anfield Central sources believe that Liverpool are hot on the heels of RB Leipzig's Ibrahima Konate. The Frenchman has been on their radar for several months, with Jurgen Klop keen to sign him soon as not to miss out to another interested party.

Whether Liverpool sign Konate, de Vrij or some other player, it's obvious that they plan on signing at least one centre-back as defensive issues this season have been the main cause for the Reds' failure to challenge for the Premier League.

While winning the league has been out of the question for some time now, Liverpool are also at risk of missing out on a top-four finish as they sit three points behind West Ham United.

The Hammers face Leicester City this weekend which will be a major test for David Moyes' men.

After the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, a lack of leadership and resilience at the back could also cost them the chance to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
