Fresh report: Liverpool want €47m winger this summer - 'hopeful of being able to strike a deal'

According to Graeme Bailey, writing for 90Min, Liverpool have held conversations with Wolves for Adama Traore and hope to sign him.

The Reds are cutting it might close this summer as it is now just 18 days until the final day of the transfer window.

Names like Jeremy Doku, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Saul Niguez have been floating recently and now Traore's has circled back round after he was linked with the Reds at the start of August.

The Daily Star reported that Liverpool were set to bid £30million for the Portugal international and while that was clearly untrue, 90Min suggests that Jurgen Klopp wants him this summer.

The writer who penned the report, Graeme Bailey, writes that Liverpool are "hopeful of being able to strike a deal".

This is in spite of the fact that Wolves are unwilling to sell Traore for less than £40million (€47m) which is close to the amount that Liverpool paid to sign Diogo Jota last summer.

The report goes on to say that space is being cleared by selling Xherdan Shaqiri which is actually true after a source told Anfield Central that part of the reason for Liverpool being willing to sanction a cut-price deal for Xherdan Shaqiri is so that they can bring in a new face.

Traore would be an incredible player under Klopp but he'd need to be content with a place on the bench for the most part.

Diogo Jota is far more suited to a starting role but he is very similar to Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah and has the potential to become a 20-30 goal per season attacker.

However, part of me thinks that playing for a club like Liverpool where Traore would need to defend so much could actually see his attacking contributions double or even triple.

He starts so deep for Wolves as they almost literally need him to carry the ball to the opposition's box at times while at Liverpool, his starting position would be around the halfway line and often higher.
