Liverpool have two major injury doubts for pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke to the press today about the current state of the squad's health.

The Reds face the second game of their pre-season tour in Asia against fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Manchester United pulled off a somewhat shock victory in the opening game of pre-season in Bangkok winning four-nil as Liverpool heavily rotated their large squad.

There have been knocks and injuries sustained in the Liverpool camp which Klopp explained today.

Injury Update

The biggest news is Diogo Jota's hamstring injury has re-emerged following his return to full squad training this week.

However, after a full day of training on Wednesday, Klopp claimed it was clear he had triggered something similar: “So, Diogo is unlucky.

"Diogo was not involved [against United] because of an injury he got at the end of his season.

“He trained yesterday fully and got injured again, so that’s really not cool but we have to wait for the results. He had further assessment this morning so we have to see.”

There was also an issue for goalkeeper Alisson with the Brazilian potentially set to miss out against Palace.

Klopp said: "Ali was not 100 per cent, he finished the session earlier, was doing the warming up and felt something so now there we have to wait as well. I think pretty much all the others are fine, so that’s it.”

For fans wondering if Liverpool will field three different starting eleven's in this game, it's likely we won't see a repeat of the United game.

However, Klopp warned that managing game time is incredibly important this close to a new season.

“Some might get 45 minutes tomorrow, we have to see, but again it’s the period of the year where we have to be really careful with different things.

“These are our footballers, these are the only boys we have. We have a lot of them but these are the only ones we have so we have to take care and we bring them in the best possible situation.”
