Liverpool 'would be in very advanced negotiations' to 'close deal' to sign €50m ace in the summer- Reds making big moves

Liverpool are supposedly in "very advanced negotiations" to sign Youri Tielemans but he will only join them next summer as the Reds beat Barcelona to his signature.

While the Reds have added Luis Diaz to their ranks and that's obviously an addition to yell from the tree tops about, I'm still uneasy about the lack of strength in midfield as Gini Wijnaldum has still not been replaced.

That said, with Naby Keita back from AFCON and Thiago Alcantara returning from injury, the Reds are looking a lot stronger in the middle of the park compared to their January selection crisis.

Harvey Elliott is also on his way back to full fitness after taking part in a behind closed doors friendly against Wrexham in which he scored a stunning solo goal and registered an assist.

That said, signing a new midfielder this summer has to be Liverpool's priority as the Reds will also be saying goodbye to James Milner as the Englishman's contract expires at the end of the season.

El Nacional reports that Tielemans has "rejected all offers made to him to renew his contract, which ends in 2023."

This leaves Leicester City with no choice but to sell him while he has a high market value which means he will leave for around €50million (£41m) in the summer. That would be a great price at which to buy the Belgian.

Liverpool are the next step in the 24-year-old's career and El Nacional cites 'British media' as claiming that the Reds will be in 'very advanced negotiations to close the deal.'

Tielemans has all the tools to be an absolute machine in Jurgen Klopp's side should he make the move to Anfield. He's strong, quick and has a ferocious shot and I'm confident he'd be brilliant at counter-pressing if given time to adjust to the demands placed on midfielder at Liverpool.

His success with the Reds would depend largely on the role he would be asked to fill but he could also excel in a similar role to the one that Wijnaldum was world-class in during his time at the club.

It would require Tielemans to be more passive than he is at the King Power Stadium which would be a shame because he is outstanding in transition and has a fantastic shot on him but ultimately, Liverpool's system is all about creating space for its fullbacks and by extension, its attackers.

El Nacional adds that Liverpool have 'been faster and overtaken' other interested parties in Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
