Liverpool have held talks to replace 28-year-old with £43M ace: There's time to complete deal

Liverpool have been linked with movement in and out of Anfield in recent days.

The latest reports seem to suggest that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a target for West Ham whilst Matheus Nunes is being eyed up as a potential replacement.

Jurgen Klopp had claimed there could be more outgoings this summer, despite being happy with his current squad.

Could the Reds be in line for an upgrade in their midfield ahead of another new season?

Latest reports on Chamberlain and Nunes

West Ham have already made a 'soft inquiry' but reports have suggested they are ready to launch a bid, albeit at a cut price.

This would be around £10M but the midfielder is out of contract next summer and the Reds may want to recoup some of the £35M they paid for him back in 2017.

In terms of Nunes, reports suggest that he is waiting for a 'big club' to come and sign him having already turned down Wolves.

A fee of around £38.4M (plus add-ons) is reportedly being asked for, and it will most likely require Chamberlain to leave in order to free up space in the squad.

How he would fit in at Liverpool

Nunes is a gifted technical midfielder capable of driving his team forward with his mazy Mateo Kovacic-Esque runs that would suit Liverpool's fast approaches.

His heatmaps suggest he's more comfortable on the left-hand side of midfield, in a role normally played by Thiago or Curtis Jones.

With Liverpool's midfield ageing with Jordan Henderson (32) Thiago (31) James Milner (36) and injury prone too (Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain) it could see Klopp move for Nunes this summer, before an inevitable bidding war breaks out in the following summer.
