“He’s so energetic": Liverpool told to sign £22.5million standout Premier League performer

Liverpool have been told to consider signing Conor Callagher from Chelsea as a long-term replacement for Jordan Henderson.

The 22-year-old has been fantastic this season for Crystal Palace but his loan spell will come to an end soon and he will return to Chelsea.

“I think for any team who are rebuilding would like Conor Gallagher,” Austin told talkSPORT when asked whether he could see Gallagher at Liverpool. “He’s so energetic, you look at him the way he plays, the way he carries himself.

“I think a lot of football fans see him play and think, ‘I’d like him at my football club’. I do believe that.

“I would say he would be, not a replacement, but Jordan Henderson, I’d put him in there when Jordan moves on, or retires or goes into a different football role, he [Gallagher] would be great.”

It's unlikely Chelsea will ever consider selling such a talented player to Liverpool given their rivalry in the Premier League but they might not need the £22.5m man.

Reports from France suggest that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco although they will need to beat Real Madrid to his signature.

Liverpool do need to reinforce their midfield and the young French star would be a sensational signing and would also signal the Reds' intent and ambition by recruiting one of the most exciting future prospects ahead of arguably the most influential club in the world in Los Blancos.

Jurgen Klopp's effect on the pull that Liverpool have in the transfer market in recent years is understated and I firmly believe that if FSG were the type of owners to sign readymade superstars, Klopp would have his pick of the lot.

But the way Liverpool do things in the transfer market by signing players before their prime and developing them on their way to the top is something special and sets them apart.
