Liverpool finally reach official agreement with Premier League winner who is 'delighted'

Liverpool made an official announcement on Monday afternoon to reveal that they have reached an agreement with Adrian over a contract extension ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Anfield Central understands that the new contract is a two-year deal and will not include a raise on his £50,000 a week wages.

Speaking to the club's media team, the Spaniard said: “I’m delighted, I’m very happy to stay in the club.

“Firstly, because it’s a reward from the club for the hard work that I’ve been doing since I signed two years ago. I really appreciate that confidence from the club, from the manager and from everyone involved in that situation.

“And secondly, and above all of that, it’s a pleasure to stay in Liverpool – it’s such a big club. But being as well a family club, it’s very special for any player to stay here. I am privileged.”

Adrian won the Premier League with Liverpool in 2019/20 and was in talks over a new deal for a few months and despite taking his time to consider offers to return to Spain, he has finally reached an official agreement with the club over an extension.

Liverpool are no longer working on sending Caoimhin Kelleher on loan so Adrian will be no.3 next season.

There are questions over Adrian's ability and should Alisson suffer an injury next season, he will once again be put to the test but as we saw against Aston Villa during the 7-2 drubbing in October.

While he's not expected to score from corners every week, Alisson's importance to Liverpool is not up for debate and his fitness next season will be crucial to the Reds chances of once again challenging for the Premier League title.

Because he's made a number of mistakes with his distribution, Alisson has lost a little bit of respect from those not connected with Liverpool but the Brazilian is a world-class 'keeper and will likely return to his peerless best next season.

Having Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate paired in central defence will be very important next season while Fabinho returning to the no.6 role permanently will see Alisson given the proper protection.
