‘Catastrophe’, ’Oh dear’: Confirmed news has many Liverpool fans very concerned ahead of Leeds clash

Liverpool fans have learned that Craig Pawson will take charge of the Leeds United game on Sunday and they're worried.

It speaks volumes that every time the Premier League reveals which referee will be in charge of Liverpool's fixtures, fans are worried regardless of who is appointed.

There is a worrying lack of quality among the officials at the top at the moment and last season's VAR farce has left supporters feeling insecure.

At least this season has seen marked improvement regarding the point at which VAR intervenes but the Wolves vs. Manchester United game saw more controversy as Mason Greenwood's goal should have been ruled out for a dangerous challenge on Ruben Neves.

Liverpool have already picked up a few injuries with Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino and Harvey Elliott all injured to varying degrees.

With the injuries already coming in, it looks like the Reds' refusal to make the most of the transfer window could cost them and so they are going to need luck on their side this season.

Hopefully, the bulk of referee decisions can go their way but that hasn't been the case in the last year or so and Liverpool fans have reason to be concerned about Pawson being appointed as the referee for the Leeds game after Klopp got in his face against Chelsea.

The German manager was furious after Cesar Azpilicueta dived to win a foul in the Chelsea box while Liverpool were attacking and he will now be hoping the 42-year-old referee doesn't hold a grudge.

Liverpool will consider the Chelsea game as a missed opportunity after Reece James was sent off. The game ended in a 1-1 draw but it was a golden chance for the Reds to beat the Blues in an early top of the table clash.
