'Imagine' - A multitude of fans react as news emerges that Liverpool are planning crazy move to sign forward

Liverpool have a plan to sign Kylian Mbappe, as per transfer guru Ian McGarry, and it involves allowing him the freedom to leave after three years.

He claims: “Our understanding is that while Liverpool can’t necessarily afford a transfer fee in the region of what Chelsea paid for Romelu Lukaku, they can afford a move for Mbappe under freedom of contract next summer, when he will be out of his current deal with PSG.

“Of course, the wages will be substantial, but again, Mbappe is interested in making the move to Liverpool, something that Jurgen Klopp has a central role in, in regards to Mbappe’s respect and admiration for the German coach.

“We know that Real Madrid are interested as well and that will be an option for him. However, it is information reported to us that Liverpool are pursuing and they believe they have an opportunity in which they may be able to get Mbappe for two or three years if they include a get-out clause in his contract, which would be signed under freedom of movement.

“So Mbappe would be in charge of his future in terms of leaving Liverpool at the point he wants to, so his career plan would be one he’s completely in charge of.”

Liverpool fans react to crazy Mbappe news

The tweet received a huge reaction from fans, with nearly 400 replies. It's understandable that supporters would be a mix of excited and sceptical.

Mbappe has been linked with Liverpool every summer and winter since he was set to leave AS Monaco and now with his contract running out, the links are only intensifying.

Liverpool and Real Madrid seem to be the favourites to sign him but there is a massive gap between what the two clubs can offer in terms of wages and that's where Jurgen Klopp might fall short.

Would FSG pay Mbappe the £403,000/week that he is reportedly earning with PSG? I can't imagine they would and they shouldn't if they still haven't agreed to pay Mohamed Salah, the club's best forward, what he wants.

I call it a crazy plan to sign Mbappe not just because of the wages involved but because of the 'freedom of movement' clause that McGarry mentions.

It makes no sense to pay the Frenchman the wages he will demand only to let him leave when he pleases even if I understand that a player of his value feels trapped in a contract.

When you're worth £150-£200m, only a handful of clubs can afford you and Mbappe likely feels that a 'freedom of movement' clause would give him the control over his career that he desires.

A realistic release clause would make more sense for Liverpool and would ensure they don't suffer financially by signing Mbappe.
