“Welcome to Liverpool”: These fans react to €40million starlet’s latest Tweet with excitement

Liverpool supporters have reacted to Ibrahima Konate’s latest tweet as the French defender has shared an edit of him after RB Leipzig achieved Champions League qualification.

He shared the below tweet, featuring a slick edit but Liverpool fans have hijacked it.

Liverpool are facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League and failure to do so could see them end up in the Europa League instead.

It’s a double whammy as not only would the Reds fail to enjoy the prestige of Europe’s most elite competition and financial benefits but they would also wind up in the inferior Europa League which often involves crazily long trips to all corners of the continent.

There is a slim chance they could secure the fourth spot in the Premier League by winning their remaining games but they will need to beat Manchester United on Thursday to stand any chance.

The Red Devils face Leicester City tomorrow before facing Liverpool 48 hours later. This could be advantageous for Jurgen Klopp’s men as it means they will have much more rest heading into the game at Old Trafford.

Konate is set for a move to Liverpool this summer but fortunately, it doesn’t hinge on them achieving Champions League football.

This would place a move for one of the most exciting players in the world in jeopardy as they currently sit six points outside the top four.

Their biggest advantage is that they have a game in hand even if it’s against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

The ideal scenario would see United beat Leicester City tomorrow evening before slumping to defeat in the following game against Liverpool on Thursday.

Liverpool desperately need Champions League football this summer.

More than ever, their recruitment needs to be spot on after a season in which they’ve slipped from the second-highest ever Premier League points tally to a distinctly average side battling for top four.

Of course, injuries and a lack of a pre-season have played a tremendous part but signings are needed this summer to correct several issues in the squad.
