Liverpool could sign this £42M Brazilian to complete squad - Anfield opportunity reportedly impossible to turn down

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Sporting CP's midfield star Matheus Nunes.

According to the latest reports, the Primeira Liga giants will not refuse to sell the midfielder this summer if they receive a bid worth £42m.

Nunes, 23, has also been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester City and the Portuguese club want to start a bidding war for their midfielder.

The Reds have been linked with a move for a midfielder in the transfer window so far with Jude Bellingham being described as their biggest target.

According to O Jogo, in the Premier League, the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are attentive but thus far, no official proposal has arrived.

These projects would be seen as “irrefutable opportunities” by Nunes.

It's also been reported that Newcastle United, Everton and Wolves were also interested but the midfielder is holding out for a big move.

Nunes could be a much cheaper option than Bellingham and could also feature anywhere across Klopp's midfield.

Nunes, currently valued at £31m, has played nearly a 100 games for Sporting, scoring seven goals.

Last season, the Lions won the Allianz Cup and the Portuguese Super Cup with Nunes featuring over 50 times in all competitions.

For the national side, so far, he has made 8 appearances and scored a crucial goal in the World Cup qualification play-off (semi-final) against Turkey.

A versatile midfielder, he is comfortable anywhere in the central areas and possesses great ball-carrying ability.

As a result, he was fouled on average 2.1 times per 90 in the Primeira Liga last season.

The Portuguese international is just as comfortable as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder and offers quality and energy in the middle of the park.
