Liverpool can sign Ousmane Dembele for just €10million this month as he is out of contract in June, according to El Nacional, as Jurgen Klopp ponders worrisome squad situation.

Diogo Jota is the only fully fit and available attacker in Liverpool's squad as Takumi Minamino has just returned to training, Roberto Firmino is in COVID-19 isolation, Divock Origi is injured while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have just left for AFCON.

Harvey Elliott has been training outside at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby but a timeline has still not been placed on his return to action so it's unclear when we will see him back in action but it's unlikely to be for a couple weeks at the very earliest.

All that said, signing Ousmane Dembele is a simply awful idea and I'd be entirely shocked if Liverpool were entertaining it and that's before you consider he's on £287,000/week at Barcelona and wants an increase.

He wants to be paid more despite the fact that his £135.5million move to Camp Nou has been a resounding failure.

And yes, Liverpool should be doing their all to bring players in this month like the new owners are at Newcastle United even if the Reds aren't fighting for Premier League survival but rather for silverware.

El Nacional reports that Xavi is 'plans to leave him in the stands until he leaves as punishment' and that Liverpool, who have tried to 'seduce him on more than one occasion' are willing to spend '10 kilos' (€10m - £8.4m) to get a deal done this month.

Dembele is a phenomenon. He really is. The French forward can run at full speed with the ball and hardly loses any speed and can dribble past defenders as if they're not there.

The former Borussia Dortmund star is ambidextrous and so is highly unpredictable and every time he is on the pitch, Barcelona look all the more dangerous which is why Xavi is so upset that he hasn't accepted any of the offers the Catalonians have made to keep him at the La Liga club.

But the issue has always been his fitness and with Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago all injury-prone, Liverpool simply cannot afford to sign another player who wants big wages that is at major risk of getting injured.

It's that simple - I don't care how cheap Liverpool can get him for this month or if he's free in the summer.

He's not going to play 50+ games a season and that's a pre-requisite for an elite forward who wants to be paid on par with the likes of Mohamed Salah, who is a legend of the game.
