The 'extraordinary' Borussia Dortmund midfielder is widely regarded by Liverpool fans as the dream midfield signing as he would make an immediate impact while also has the potential to develop into one of the best players of his generation.

Can Liverpool afford to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund?

The midfielder is a fantastic player and at times it's difficult to believe that he's still just 18 but he has already shone at the EUROs and in the Champions League and seems ready to make the step up to a club like Liverpool.

He's reportedly valued at £90million and his performances over the last two years and the incredibly high ceiling on his potential means he'd be worth every cent.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds, despite recent Anfield transfer trends, would be able to afford a deal to sign Bellingham even if the transfer fee did cost £90million as the amortisation would make it just £18m per season.

The report reads: "While that [£90m] may seem likely to price him [Jude Bellingham] out of what FSG usually do, his age and profile, as well as an amortisation cost of £18m over the course of a five-year deal - the longer the better - means that it is something that is achievable."

Bellingham would complete Liverpool rebuild

Liverpool are quietly putting the pieces in place to rebuild their squad while they currently have the players to compete for major honours.

I'm sure you've heard pundits say it before but Liverpool's starting XI is as good as it gets but their squad depth is where they're let down. If Jurgen Klopp can keep his squad fully fit between now and May, he should win a major trophy and probably the Carabao Cup as well.

However, the German and FSG seem to be aiming for long-term success as well with Diogo Jota and Ibrahima Konate signed in recent windows and now Luis Diaz and Fabio Carvalho are being added to the mix as well.

If you then consider Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harvey Elliott are all very young, Liverpool have a very strong young spine coming through. Alisson and Fabinho will be around for a long time as well while van Dijk should be too not to mention Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson.

But if you add Jude Bellingham, Liverpool have a world-class central midfielder for the next 10+ years. £90m could be a bargain if I'm honest.

How good is BVB star Jude Bellingham?

The 18-year-old is already a regular for Borussia Dortmund and has attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world.

His manager Marco Rose had this to say: “Jude is just a great guy. His mentality, the willingness to work for the team, the intensity with which he plays football, the will to win and of course the solutions he finds on the football pitch.

"The way he assisted Erling’s goal and scored the first himself is extraordinary. We are really happy to have him with us.”
