Liverpool have already made offer to sign €60M sensation - Bid is "on the table" and club is likely to accept

Liverpool are set to battle it out with Arsenal for the signature of La Liga wonderkid who has attracted the attention of Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds conducted their business really early in the window but injuries and uncertainty may see them move late in the window.

Granted, their injuries are mostly in midfield but an unlucky few weeks have seen nine players out of action.

Could Liverpool move for a young, attacking winger to give them depth in their front-line?

Latest reports on Pino

With Liverpool seemingly interested in Villarreal's Yeremi Pino, we didn't expect them to be after an attacking target at this stage of the window.

However, according to Spanish journalist Xavi Jorquera Márquez, Liverpool have put a €40M (£33.8M) bid “on the table” for Villarreal wonderkid Pino.

Márquez tweeted: “Villarreal have received two offers from two Premier League teams for Yeremy Pino. Those clubs are Arsenal and Liverpool.

“Both have put €40M (£33.8M) on the table. Villarreal asks €60M (£50.7M).”

Spanish outlet AS reports a bid in the region of £34M-£42M would be accepted and so the 19-year-old could be a realistic arrival this summer.

Would it be the right move?

As covered yesterday, Pino is statistically an ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side and ranks in the 99th percentile for shots on target (%), average shot distance, blocks, passes blocked and shots blocked.

He also caught the eye with four goals against Espanyol in the league last season, making him the youngest player to score a hat trick in one half of football in La Liga.

Long term he could be the answer to Mohamed Salah or Luis Diaz but in the short term, he offers versatility as a backup winger on either flank which is only really covered by Harvey Elliot and Fabio Carvalho - both of whom are naturally better in the central attacking areas.

With Villarreal asking for less than the release clause, it may be a smart time to move for the winger but a midfielder currently should take precedence over another attacking player coming in.
