£60m forward is "high up on the list" for Liverpool; Reds "remain attentive to the situation"

Liverpool are still keeping tabs on Leeds United forward Raphinha's situation and he is "certainly high up on the list", writes Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds are the top goalscorers in the Premier League but improvements can always be made and with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all out of contract in 2023, recruitment upfront is not out of the question.

Divock Origi is also out of contract this summer and so despite Luis Diaz's move to Anfield in the summer, the Reds still need to think about how they can invest in their squad and where their next steps need to be taken.

Raphinha could leave Leeds this summer with Barcelona and Liverpool both in the running, according to Fabrizio Romano, although the Italian states that it's the Catalonians who are being more proactive in their approach.

He writes: "The latter [Raphinha] is certainly high up on the list, but Barcelona have already started discussions with his agent, Deco, in order to steal the march on rival clubs and gain the upper-hand over his potential signature.

"Liverpool remain attentive to the situation, and at this stage it's an option that is certainly being taken into consideration."

Raphinha would be a terrific player for Liverpool but the Mirror claims that Leeds want “nearly double” the £33.5million Barcelona want to pay which means he is still valued between £60m and £70m by the Premier League side.

If that's true, I can imagine Liverpool will turn their attention elsewhere as the Brazilian simply isn't worth that much and even if Mohamed Salah were to leave the club, there are better replacements in that price range.

His contract only expires in 2024 so they're entitled to demand what they feel he is worth but it's doubtful that the Reds would pay that much when they got Luis Diaz for a fraction of the price.
