'Confirmations coming in' - Liverpool are readying a 'monster salary' offer for marquee signing

Claims have been made by Rudy Galetti and by Marca that Liverpool are exploring a deal to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG but it won't happen this summer.

After he scored 42 goals and assisted 11 for PSG this season, his stock within Europe has risen even further but with a year left on his PSG contract, signing him this summer is virtually impossible.

Firstly, Transfermarkt values him at £144million so this really is not a deal that FSG are known for completing and I actually have a suspicion that PSG would demand more than that.

Secondly, the claims have already been rubbished by the tireless Fabrizio Romano.

Mbappe to Liverpool?

Liverpool are supposedly ready to spend €100million to sign the former AS Monaco starlet.

Even before the claims were said to be rubbish, you need just look at another story from the French journalist to get an idea of his knowledge on the Anfield outfit.

Last week, he reported that Liverpool are ready to spend more than Manchester United to sign a centre-back in Juventus' Cristian Romero.

Marca claims that Liverpool have enquired about Mbappe which is a much more reasonable claim. His contract expires in 2022 and although PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has declared that he will never leave Paris, the young forward has all the power.

PSG, as Marca clarifies, have no intention of selling the striker and are trying to sign Pogba, Ramos and Ronaldo to show him their ambition.

As Fabrizio Romano said on Twitter when asked about FSG being ready to offer Mbappe huge money: "Rumours coming from who/where?! There’s nothing!"

Mbappe 2022?

Liverpool's best chance of signing Mbappe is to wait until his terms run out in 2022 and hope that he sees Jurgen Klopp's project as the most appealing.

As Marca says, Liverpool cannot match PSG's ambition and financial firepower but as Klopp has shown, he doesn't need the world's best players to achieve greatness.

He's turned the likes of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold into world beaters and he would most likely guide Kylian Mbappe to a Balon d'Or or two.
