Breaking: Liverpool looking to "accelerate" talks to renew Jurgen Klopp's contract

Liverpool are looking to "accelerate" talks to renew Jurgen Klopp's contract beyond its expiry in 2024, according to Paul Joyce.

The Reds are fresh off a Champions League semi-final first-leg win over Villarreal, beating the Spanish side 2-0 at Anfield, and yet things could be set to get even better for them.

According to Paul Joyce: "Liverpool are looking to accelerate talks to extend Jürgen Klopp’s contract after he indicated that he would be open to remaining at Anfield beyond 2024."

Mike Gordon, the president of FSG, flew to England for the Champions League clash but one of his priorities, while he's on Merseyside, is "to progress discussions on a new deal with the manager."

Klopp's agent, Marc Kosicke, was reportedly also in attendance at Anfield "just a few seats away from Gordon."

Liverpool extending Klopp's contract would be better than any signing. Even if FSG could sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland, nothing would be topped by the German extending his terms at Anfield.

He has quite simply revolutionised Liverpool and the thought of him leaving is one that leaves a lot of fans with a feeling of dread.

While many would prefer Pep Guardiola, Klopp isn't just the best manager in the world, he's the best fit for Liverpool as a city and a football club.

His ability to get the best out of every player at the club while making fringe players feel included and special is a testament to his management abilities.

Klopp indicating that he would be willing to stay at the club beyond his contract's expiry is a huge step in the right direction and I'd love to find out what inspired his change of heart.

Liverpool are a special club and they're more special for having a manager like the 54-year-old and I'm certain that many rival fans will be horrified to learn they may have to put up with the fist-pumping maniac for even longer.

Bring it on!
