Sky Sports: Liverpool are favourites to complete signing and personal terms 'not an issue' - club wants a record fee

Sky Sports have confirmed that Liverpool are favourites to sign Calvin Ramsay this summer and detailed what remains to get a deal over the line.

While the England national setup continues to leave Trent Alexander-Arnold on the bench, everyone connected with Liverpool Football Club can see his quality very clearly.

The Scouser is one of the most important players in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI and had one of his best seasons to date this term.

He assisted 19 goals and even scored twice to help Liverpool on their quadruple mission. Trent and his teammates may have missed out on the Premier League and the Champions League but they still won two domestic cups.

Looking ahead to the 2022/23 season, signing a backup right back has been identified as one of Liverpool's priorities and so Calvin Ramsay enters the picture.

Yesterday, it was reported that Calvin Ramsay has informed Aberdeen that he wants to move to Anfield and the Reds plan to complete a deal to sign him this week.

This morning, Sky Sports reported live on air that Liverpool are favourites to sign the fullback and that "personal terms won't be an issue."

All that remains is for Liverpool and Aberdeen to "agree a fee" for the 18-year-old.

Apparently, an official approach is yet to be made but Aberdeen want to sell him for "well above" their club-record sale of £3Million.

It would be very like Liverpool to go out and sign Ramsay - a player that many hadn't heard much about until he was linked with the Reds - and turn him into one of the best fullbacks around.

Jurgen Klopp's squad is filled with so many inspirational stories and an 18-year-old Scottish defender moving to Liverpool and winning it all sounds like a story we've heard before.

Albeit, he wasn't 18 when he joined Liverpool but Andy Robertson's move to Merseyside will have inspired many Scottish players to follow in his footsteps.
