Liverpool favourites to land £30M signing ahead of Man Utd, report claims, as Klopp and Ten Hag go head to head

Liverpool are favourites to land Marco Asensio, a report claims, with Manchester United second fiddle to their rivals in the market again.

Darwin Nunez chose Anfield over Old Trafford this summer to seal an incredible marquee move where he will be coached by Jurgen Klopp.

The German will no doubt want to work his magic with another hugely talented forward after developing Mohamed Salah and the like into world-beaters.

Via Paisley Gates, SPORT claims that Asensio is willing to join the Reds this summer.

It follows an earlier claim from SPORT that suggested AC Milan have switched their attention to Domenico Berardi and are no longer interested in Asensio.

The Spaniard has less than 12 months remaining on his Real Madrid contract and is available for £30M (£21.6M).

He has reportedly demanded around €7M (£5.9M) per season to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu which works out to around £115,000 per week.

While I'd be curious to see Asensio play under Klopp, it's an unnecessary risk, especially considering it would further limit the minutes that talents like Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott will be able to receive.

Elliott and Carvalho are hugely exciting young players that are already considered as ready to star for the first team whereas Asensio is a bit of a question mark at this stage in his career.

He terrorised Barcelona in the early stages of his career at Madrid but he has fallen off since then and is now second fiddle to the likes of Vinicius Junior and even young Rodrygo.

Last season, he scored just 12 goals and assisted only 2.
