"Liverpool given huge boost": Journalist provides exciting injury update on two key stars ahead of Real Madrid clash

Thiago and Fabinho should be fit to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final if they don't suffer any setbacks.

This is reported by the Daily Mail's Dominic King, who says the Reds have been given a huge boost ahead of this weekend's clash with Los Blancos.

Fabinho trained at the AXA training centre on Wednesday and is in contention to start already.

When asked by reporters at the open training session if he will be able to start for Liverpool, he replied by saying: "Yes, I'm ready."

Thiago, meanwhile did not train on Wednesday but instead worked in the gym with Liverpool's head physiotherapist as they focused on strength and conditioning.

King reports that should there be no setbacks overnight, both Fabinho and Thiago will take part in training today and should be fit to face Real Madrid.

It's crucial that Klopp has Fabinho and Thiago in the starting XI against Carlo Ancelotti's side. Without them, the side is much weaker and lacks control.

The thought of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Naby Keita starting a Champions League final is a worrying one but it's an incredible boost to imagine them starting on Saturday.

As much as not winning the Premier League stung, there is no greater prize in club football than lifting the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool have a unique connection with the tournament and they could make history by winning their 7th European Cup, extending their lead as the most successful English side in European history.

Real Madrid have already shown this season that they are capable of beating any side they face in a straight shootout and that's what Saturday may come down to.

Defence will be key and Klopp will be delighted to know he should have Fabinho fit to protect his back four while Thiago's composure will be vital to ensuring Liverpool are able to dictate the tempo of the game.

Without the former Bayern Munich star, I'm afraid that Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro would overrun the Reds in midfield.
