Klopp tipped to complete deal for €59M no.8, who is waiting for Anfield switch: Summer transfer is 'a matter of time':

Liverpool could be forced to move for a long-term target following an injury to one of their midfielders suffered this week.

An injury sustained by Curtis Jones will see the Liverpool academy graduate out of action for 2-4 weeks.

Furthermore, the Reds are already without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain due to a longer-term injury meaning the midfield is starting to look a little thin.

Could this mean Liverpool finally move for one of their midfield targets that is available right now?

Who could they sign?

One of their reported targets Matheus Nunes of Sporting is available this summer with the Reds one of the leading clubs interested. It was reported by Jornal de Noticias that the Reds want to lure the midfielder, who is valued at €59M.

A recent report from Correio da Manha states that Nunes will wait for Liverpool to play in the Champions League and compete for silverware.

Former Red Xavier tips Liverpool to sign Nunes

(Nunes can) adapt to any top team in England,” Liverpool and Everton fullback said, as per Noticias ao Minuto.

It is normal that not only Liverpool but also of Manchester City, who may eventually lose a player in that position, may be thinking about Matheus Nunes. His departure from Sporting is a matter of time.”

How would he fit in?

His versatility would be of real worth to Liverpool, given he's comfortable anywhere in midfield as well as in a two-man pivot.

At 23, he offers youth but also experience having won trophies and compete in the Champions League on the regular.

His ball carrying can been compared to Chelsea's Mateo Kovacic and there's an argument that he could be lethal in a top side given the amount of possession he would receive.

For Liverpool, he'd be perfect in transition and driving them up the pitch to ensure the real difference makers (Luis Diaz & Mohamed Salah) get the ball as quickly as possible.
