Transfer expert says a "substantial budget is in place" for LFC to sign a forward after links with €90M special talent

Liverpool allegedly have a "substantial budget in place" to sign a player that can play in any of the attacking roles in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI.

The Reds have one of the most fluid attacking teams in the world.

Sadio Mane left the club but Liverpool swiftly replaced him with Darwin Nunez and for all the banter online, he looks the real deal and will score a bucket load of goals this season.

He may look awkward at times but he has the predatory instinct that all the top forwards we have seen in the Premier League have.

Nunez has already been compared to Fernando Torres due to his speed, frame, physicality and clinical nature.

In his first official game for Liverpool, he scored against Manchester City with a brilliant header.

Alongside him will be Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz primarily but he will also play with Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool transfer budget is "substantial"

But according to 'transfer expert' Duncan Castles, sporting director Julian Ward has a "substantial budget" to work with to add another versatile forward to his ranks.

He said: “That’s the aim, they’re looking for a forward who can play across any of the front three positions.

"I’m told that there is a substantial budget in place if they can find the right player in the January window, which is not easy in normal circumstances, but you do have pandemic conditions as an assistance here and you have a lot of clubs in Europe who are open to bringing revenue in, so you may be able to do things you can’t do normally.”

Who could Liverpool sign?

There haven't been many concrete links from the usual reliable sources but the one player I love to watch that I would love to see join Liverpool is Antony.

The Ajax star is just so fun to watch. He might not join Liverpool and has been heavily linked with Manchester United at a €90M price point but he'd be my pick.

The 22-year-old would make an immediate impact at Anfield and could be the unexpected heir to Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has signed a new contract but his career with the Reds could end in 2025 when his new three-year deal worth £350K/week ends.

Antony is also a right-wing but he can play in a number of positions and would dovetail perfectly with any of Liverpool's attacking stars.
