Kingsley Coman has extended his Bayern Munich contract and this should give Liverpool a major boost in their hopes of landing Leeds United showman, Raphinha.
The Frenchman has signed a fresh deal with the Bavarians which will keep him in Munich until 2027 and should end all speculation linking him with a move away from the German giants.
However, there is nothing stopping us from speculating how his contract extension actually helps Liverpool.
Bayern Munich were reportedly interested in Raphinha and a report from Spox detailed that a move for the Leeds United star would only happen if Coman left the club but now that the rapid forward has recommitted his future to Bayern, that should also end links to Raphinha.
Liverpool are one of the clubs heavily linked with the former Rennes star. He’s one of the names linked with the Reds to come in and provide competition and cover for Mohamed Salah although, at the rate things are going with his contract talks, he could be a replacement down the line.
Assuming Salah stays at the club as we have to hope he does, Liverpool arguably need to sign someone to compete with Sadio Mane more than they need someone to drive Salah onto greater heights.
Raphinha would be a classy signing in the summer as there is no point in even calling his agent, Deco, this month about an emergency move to Anfield as the Brazilian is key to their hopes of avoiding relegation this season.
Fabrizio Romano said recently that the forward is valued at £60m which is likely far more than the Reds will be willing to pay this month and will be hoping that his price dips quite significantly in the summer.
But without Bayern Munich out of the way, at least Liverpool won’t need to worry about contending with the Bundesliga leaders in a transfer race.
