“Ridiculous, Find another league”: Jurgen Klopp answers journalist’s question candidly when asked about quadruple hopes

Jurgen Klopp says that while Liverpool are still in four competitions, the fixture list the Reds have makes it nearly impossible to win the quadruple.

Liverpool play Benfica on Wednesday evening at 8pm just three days after an intense clash with Manchester City which will have a huge bearing on the Premier League title.

Following the Reds Champions League quarterfinal second leg, they will travel on Saturday to Wembley to face Manchester City at Wembley in what is set to be another gruelling encounter.

The winner will book their place in the FA Cup final and ultimately decide whether or not Liverpool remain in the race to win four trophies this season.

The Reds beat Chelsea in the final of the Carabao Cup and so have one trophy in the bag but Jurgen Klopp has downplayed his side’s chances of winning all four.

He said that the way Liverpool’s fixture list is designed means they “can’t go for 4 trophies…we are in four competitions.

“We are good enough to go a long way in these competitions, but the schedule is (ridiculous) – find another league in the world where they put a team in the semi-final at 12.30 on the Saturday.”

By this point, Jurgen Klopp is likely quite used to the lack of consideration in England when it comes to accommodating schedules.

Unfortunately, the powers that be simply don’t care. It’s not just Liverpool either but the fact is that the FA, the Premier League or the EFL are unwilling to make the necessary compromises to help the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea go as far as they can in Europe.

Similarly, it affects their ability to compete in domestic tournaments yet Klopp is often painted as the villain for supposedly not taking the FA Cup and Carabao Cup seriously.

Yet when Liverpool do show the tournaments the respect that critics demand, there is no assistance with scheduling and very little consideration for travelling fans either.

This is Anfield published a piece on the troubles that both Liverpool and Man City supporters face this weekend getting to London and back without very much help from the FA.
