Jurgen Klopp reveals current transfer stance - tells media he wants the 'right' player

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool's transfer stance amidst rumours of a move for a midfielder and current injury issues.

The Reds are currently missing up to nine players with the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip and Thiago amongst the casualties.

Pressure has intensified from fans around signing a new midfielder, given the injury-prone nature of some of the midfielders and the fact that key man Thiago is out for at least five to six weeks.

Klopp has come forward and explained the current situation, speaking as clearly as possible to explain to fans how hard it is to find the 'right' player.

The Reds have suffered injuries, mostly in midfield, with Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones all currently sidelined.

Fans have clamoured for a midfield signing to be made, namely Matheus Nunes from Sporting, but Klopp has claimed it isn't quite as simple as it seems.

“The thing is, it is easy for us to bring a midfielder in, but it is not so easy to bring the right midfielder in,” Klopp said ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Monday night.

“There are money reasons and contractual reasons which, most of the time, go hand-in-hand.

“It's not that we deny signing a player if we have a problem with injuries, for example. But it is a complete different situation to the beginning of the pre-season when everybody told me we needed a new midfielder and that was about the kind of midfielder.

“That is a completely different discussion. We didn't need a different kind of midfielder but if the right midfielder would have been available, we would have gone then as well."

Liverpool had been linked with Jude Bellingham, Marcelo Brozovic and Nunes - but it seems Klopp won't be moving for any of them this summer.

James Pearce quashed rumours of a Nunes move and Bellingham is seen as a long-term target.
